The American economy is vast, from small, boutique operations to large multi-generational firms. Entrepreneurial families are building business legacies that will last for generations to come, with more than two thirds of privately held businesses in the U.S. being family-owned.
Matt represents the third generation with his brother Brad. “We were required by my father, Ron, to work outside the family business for at least two years to gain an outside perspective before joining the company,” says Eyre. “We certainly see there is great value in this approach, as it helps with perspective and appreciation. When my brother Brad joined the company two years ago, we created a ‘Working Relationship Contract.’ This was a signed document signifying our commitment to ensuring a positive working relationship at all times, while keeping a harmonious family relationship as well.”
“Our mission statement is ‘Excellence in Travel.’ That is what every employee is working for every day,” says Matt Eyre, president of Eyre Bus, Tour & Travel.
