What do you need to become a professional motorcoach driver?  Each company is different, however as rule of thumb: 

bus driving jobsGood Driving Record and current driver’s license

Commercial Drivers License (CDL) although today many company’s may assist you in securing this license.

Customer Service skills as there is regular interaction with passengers

Have the ability to pass a physical exam and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test

Who is best suited to become a motorcoach driver?

United States Hours of Service regulations

May drive a maximum of 10 hours after 8 consecutive hours off duty.

May not drive after having been on duty for 15 hours, following 8 consecutive hours off duty. Off-duty time is not included in the 15-hour period.

May not drive after 60/70 hours on duty in 7/8 consecutive days.

Canadian Hours of Service regulations

No motor carrier shall request, require or allow a driver to drive and no driver shall drive after the driver has accumulated 13 hours of driving time unless the driver takes at least 8 consecutive hours of off-duty time before driving again.

No motor carrier shall request, require or allow a driver to drive and no driver shall drive after the driver has accumulated 14 hours of on-duty time unless the driver takes at least 8 consecutive hours of off-duty time before driving again.
